February 2012 Meeting

"What’s Your Story? The Healing Power of Sharing Your Stories"

Now is the time to tell your story! In this interactive presentation, author and oral historian Angela Zusman will help participants connect with some of their own life stories. She will discuss the value of storytelling as a means of educating, empowering and healing individuals, families and communities. Drawing on her experience as a personal historian, she will present tips and resources for collecting, organizing and preserving valuable stories, wisdom and experiences.

Angela Zusman is an oral and personal historian who has documented hundreds of individual, family and community histories. For the last ten years her company Uniquely Perfect has helped people share their stories and family histories, creating custom books, events, and exhibitions to share and preserve valuable wisdom and experiences: www.uniquelyperfect.com.

She is the author of Story Bridges: A Guide to Conducting Intergenerational Oral History Projects, published in 2010 by Left Coast Press. She has directed numerous community oral history projects in Oakland and San Francisco. Inspired to bring the power of storytelling to wider audiences, she founded Story Bridges, a non-profit organization whose mission is to design and implement story telling projects that educate, empower and heal individuals and communities: www.storybridges.org
